Welcome, fellow caffeinated geeks, to the official launch of Blackwater Market Comics & Coffee (or BWM Comics, in short), and our little contribution to the comic and coffee communities! The process of building our little family-owned online business has been a labor of love over the past two years, and a dream cultivated in decades of back-issue boxes and questionable levels of caffeine consumption. If you’ve read this far, then you know what we’re talking about, and it’s this; “Always comics. Always coffee.” It’s the code we live by, and it’s the reason we started BWM Comics in the first place.
HGIC
We offer a unique online shopping experience that’s family-owned, and built DIY by us from the ground-up. With an inventory of a near-lifetime’s-worth of back issues, story arc collections and graphic novels, a passion for seeking out the most delicious independent free-trade coffee roasters we can find – as well as some of the coolest merch to plaster your body and dunk your beans in – we uprooted our family from our beautiful home State of Arizona into the Mid-Ohio tundra to create Blackwater Market Comics & Coffee.
Always comics. Always coffee.
We are a family of comic book curators, collectors and readers. We offer a wide variety of quality comic books, arc collections, and graphic novels from the silver to modern-age. In addition to comics from popular Marvel and DC creators, we also carry stories from unique and independent publishers such as Image, Dark Horse, Wildstorm, and beyond. We believe that supporting small businesses and unique creators is important, and so we are proud to offer delicious coffee and teas from select independent roasters from around the nation.
So now that you know a little bit about us, what kind of an experience are you going to have here at BWM Comics? Well, we hope that the fancy dark, dimly-lit color pallet gives an inviting and comforting feeling that’s a little different from what you would come to expect with online comic shops. We tend to lean more towards darker styles, and for us, presentation is everything. You’ll notice this when browsing the different areas of our shop. We want your experience to feel like you just left your problems of the World at the doorstep, and stepped into BWMComics.com for some well-deserved comics and coffee time. If you’re down with that, you’re definitely in the right place.
Here’s a quick rundown of the awesome stuff that you’re going to find at BWM Comics:
Let’s start at the beginning. Always comics. Those treasureful single-issue comics that started it all for each one of us. We have a growing variety of back-issues from the silver, bronze, copper and modern-age comic eras. We aim to be adding a bunch more manga and kids comics in the near future, too.
We know how annoying it is to start a story and run dead-end into a missing issue, so we offer a plethora of story arc collections to help you maintain your sanity from start to finish.
We offer trade paperback and hardcover graphic novels of some of the greatest cornerstone stories from the characters you love, and offer a great starting point for new collectors.
With an ever-expanding “Always comics. Always coffee.” mindset, we maintain laser focus on the important things in life. With that foundation, we explore everywhere we go, searching not only for comic books, but also for unique and independent coffee roasts and teas from all over to bring you some of the most delicious comforting beverages we think you should be pairing with your daily reads.
Where would these delicious beverages be without something rad to put them in? We offer a huge unique assortment of custom BWM Comics branded drinkware like water bottles, tumblers, glassware and a bunch of really cool coffee mugs.
If you’re brewing for a taste of nostalgia beyond the colorful pages of comics and graphic novels, dive into our collection of magazines and classic zines. From the punk rock vibes of Maximum Rocknroll to the underground ethos of Flipside, there’s a slice of vintage awesome waiting for every eager reader.
Maybe you’ve noticed that we’re big fans of the color magenta, and when it comes to showcasing some of our personal magenta-colored-themed comic book and merchandise collections, we’re making a business out of it. We’ve created a magenta-themed showroom to feature a selection of our cool magenta comics and merchandise we have available to bring into your own domain.
The exhumed desert grave of the Arizona-birthed Born Creepy Co. clothing line has been dug up and replanted in its new lot at Blackwater Market Comics & Coffee. The classic “Creep” t-shirt and popular others are summoned back to life with all new designs soon.
Once upon a new millennium there was a vigorous online local Arizona punk rock music community that thrived and grew in the early wild wilderness of the world wide innernets. Our AZPunk collection honors the memories, friendships, hangovers, broken noses, broken paroles and unforgettable moments in a time so many wild desert kids enjoyed together.
We offer an assortment of classic national, as well as Arizona local punk rock music that has propelled us in inspiration and persistence over the decades. These treasured albums are the fuel that burned through an entire generation.
