The Journey So Far
From the ritual of carefully packing shipments to the energy of local pop-ups and Mid-Ohio partnerships, Queen Kiki and your’s truly, Mr. Magenta, have met our brooding community of geeks that keep this comics & coffee machine chugging along.
But BWM Comics has never been just about selling comics (though, let’s be honest, I could happily bag and board these treasures for the rest of my life); it is truly about the deeper values that drive us. We are here to share stories, from the ones found on the printed page to the West Coast adventures we recount over a fresh brew; we want to encourage everyone to slow down and take a breath in a fast-paced world. Ultimately, it is about building human connections in an increasingly detached social landscape.
Milestones and Giveaways
In the midst of celebrating these two years, we also hit a milestone that really put things into perspective. We recently crossed the 1,500 mark for our iGrams Friends. To us, that isn’t just a number on a screen; it represents 1,500 individuals who give us a reason to keep hunting for the best books and roasting the best beans.
To celebrate, we held our 1.5k Friends Giveaway Contest as a way to give back to the community that has grown alongside us. The energy and participation were incredible, and it was a blast getting to reward some of our most dedicated supporters. The 5-Star Wall
Beyond the numbers on social media, we’ve been incredibly humbled by the feedback on Google. Maintaining a (nearly) 5-star rating over these two years is something we take to heart; it tells us that the care we put into every shipment and every conversation is hitting the mark. It’s a constant reminder that showing up with real heart for sharing comics is exactly why we started this.
Of course, every story needs a little contrast. We’ve managed to keep that rating nearly perfect, with one small, semi-justified exception that keeps us grounded. Even though our 1-star lone shooter has managed to keep our runaway egos in check, it ensures that we never stop trying to improve the experience for every single geek who finds us.
Sharing the Love Every April 8th
Beyond the giveaways, we also celebrated our one true favorite annual tradition: our “Buy a Friend a Comic and a Coffee Day” on April 8th. Now in its fifth year, this day is the heartbeat of what we do. It’s about creating new readers and surprising someone with a dose of caffeine and a great story.

We’ve learned a lot in twenty-four months of business ownership. It’s hard work, but we’re up to it. We’ve spent late nights optimizing operations, doubling down on quality, and figuring out how to balance the “Creative Ops” of running a business with the visual and creative passion that started it all. Every hurdle has been a lesson; every win and loss has been shared with you.
